Hookah 101: what it is
A hookah is a water pipe used to smoke flavored tobacco, called shisha. The shisha sits in a bowl on top, heated by charcoal. When you draw from the hose, the smoke passes through water before it reaches you, which cools it down.
Hookah is meant to be slow and social. One hookah is usually shared by a table, and a session can last a good while, so it's built for relaxing and talking.
What to expect when you walk in
At 999 Lounge & Bar, you'll find comfortable lounge seating, music, and a relaxed crowd. Grab a seat, and your server will walk you through the hookah menu. There's no pressure to know anything going in. Just tell us what flavors you usually like in food or drinks, and we'll help you choose.
How to pick your first flavor
If you're new, fruity or minty flavors are an easy place to start. They're smooth and familiar. Once you know what you like, you can try mixes. Ask your server what's popular that night.

Share the hose: pass it to the next person rather than holding onto it.
Take your time: slow, easy draws work best.
Ask for help: if the flavor fades or the smoke gets harsh, let us know. We'll refresh the coals.
Pace yourself: pair your hookah with water, a mocktail or a drink.
